Kids say the funniest things and my little Mclane is no different. I just had to share these conversations.
This last week Mclane has come to really notice that people are of different color skin, mostly because he goes to school with a wide variety of ethnicity.
Me: So Mclane who are you going to play with at school tomorrow, since Katie will be out of town for the week?
Mclane: I don't know?
Me: How about Collin?
Mclane: No he plays with Karia.
Me: don't you like Karia?
Mclane: I don't know she gets in trouble a lot.
Me: Oh, Why?
Mclane: I don't know, maybe because she got paint on her. She got black all over herself!
Me: (trying not to laugh) Why do you say that?
Mclane: She looks like she spilled black paint on her.
Me: that is the color of her skin.
Mclane: No, I am sure it is paint cause she is really black all over herself!
Later that week I was driving home from school with Mclane, and this was our conversation.
Mclane: Mom did you know I am half dark and half white?
Me: Oh and why is that?
Mclane: Because Dad is dark and you and white and I am both!
Me: ...OK.... (cant argue with that)
I love my little guy, and love that he is learning things and figuring out the world every day in his own little way!
